DIY bathroom remodel: installing final wainscoting

We had already installed most of our wainscoting in a burst of productivity a few weeks ago when we were living on borrowed time with my dad’s air compressor and nail gun. Nothing like a tight deadline to motivate you to get lots done!

However, we had two skinny pieces that needed to be cut by hand, which we knew would take a long time ago. So we let that part of the project sit until this weekend. Now it’s time! My hubby cut the pieces with a box-cutter, very slowly and carefully.

Then we did something we’ve been talking about for four years: we got our own nail gun and air compressor. For four years, we’ve been borrowing my stepdad’s and bonus mom’s, and my dad’s. We knew it wouldn’t cost much, but we were worried we wouldn’t have room to store an air compressor.

Then at Dunn a few weeks ago, we saw a sale for nail gun/air compressor kit, with the tiniest cutest* little air compressor! We can find room for it, and honestly we use a nail gun for so many projects, I think it will come in handy and be worth the $250. It also simplified this particular wainscoting installation, because my dad wasn’t able to lend his nail gun this weekend. So we got our own and finished the installation in about 15 minutes!

*I know I probably shouldn’t use the word “cute” to describe a power tool because I’ll sound like a ditzy girl, but I think it’s possible to be ditzy and kick-a$$ at the same time.
